Home for the Holidays

This was the most beautiful Christmas I can remember. Clear, crisp winter days and calm, frosty nights. A perfect holiday at home. The view of the snow on the Butterpots is just breathtaking.

In between the turkey, gifts, and mummers visits, we had some time to enjoy the wonderful winter weather, and then I hid away to write about it. You can visit Writing Home to read about our day on the pond.

I hope you enjoyed your holidays, and I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year.

  2. Laurita, I was just reading your stories and they bring back alot of precious memories. I also agree with you about the tree of memories, my tree is still like that today. full of memories with the ornaments that the kids made. Keep up the wonderful writing. Happy New Year to you, Jonathan and family.

  4. Great stuff, Laurita. Thanks for sharing and I love that new blog. Good idea.

We didn't get snow, not really expected in Portland, but we did have the most sunny days in December on record, like blue sky sunny days, which always lifts peoples' spirits around here, so that was an extra bonus!

    Cheers to 2012!

  5. You've got a way of describing that makes wherever you are seem like the best place to be at any given moment. Never lose that!

All the best for a Happy New Year, Laurita!

  8. I learned to skate on a slightly more cattail filled drained lake. It was so much fun! Thanks for the memory, it made me smile.

  10. Love the photo - what a fabulous view. We, of course, did not get snow here in central Texas, but the weather has been mild which is a nice change from our summer.

Hope you had a merry Christmas and I wish you a fabulous 2012.

  11. Darn it, this post really makes me wish I had gone home as well. The skating pictures were right up there as well. I never learned to skate however...maybe I should go up and try to learn on Wood Pond!

Happy New Year to all. Wishing your entire family only the very very best in 2012.
